Microban at Reseal Scotland

Tiled surfaces are ideal for wet-areas like bathrooms and kitchens. However, the humid conditions and food sources like soap scum and organic residue can be the perfect environment for bacteria, mould and mildew to thrive. Microban® technology is incorporated during the production process of selected BAL grouts and sealants to provide continuous antimicrobial protection that lasts the lifetime of the products, providing a hygiene barrier to support regular cleaning practices.

If left unchecked, microbes can double every 20 minutes, especially in wet and humid environments like the kitchen and bathroom. As a result, sealant and grout surfaces designed to keep water from behind walls, can become breeding grounds for microbes like bacteria, black mould and mildew. Microban® protection fights the growth of microbes that can cause stains and odours on sealant and grout surfaces. While nothing can replace the need for proper cleaning practices, the continuous cleaning action of Microban protection makes grout and sealant surfaces easier to clean and keeps them cleaner between cleanings. A benefit all homeowners can appreciate.

The growing popularity of our cost-effective Reseal service is directly related to our technical operative skills on the one hand and the use of high-end materials on the other.  Tile adhesives, grout and sealants formulated for protection and durability, by BAL’s own team of specialist chemists, provide an added level of hygiene protection in bathrooms, showers and food consumption areas.

Wet and humid environments like kitchens and bathrooms are natural breeding grounds for microbes like bacteria, black mould and mildew.  It’s a naturally occurring process aggravated by time and humidity (and cheaper products) which defy even the most rigorous cleaning attempts. Research by Microban and Building Adhesives Ltd (BAL), however, has produced a unique, science-based solution.
